What is it?
Right on Pitch is a 22-page e-book where I share tips and tricks I’ve learned as a magazine editor, fashion and beauty blogger, and freelance writer to help you get your ideas out into the world and get paid for them.
How pitching has helped me grow my personal brand
In my time as a freelance writer I’ve been published on websites like The Zoe Report, Fashionista, Refinery29, TeenVogue and more.
Even as a micro-influencer I’ve worked with brands like Amazon, Glossier, The New York Times, and Walmart on paid campaigns because I was able to convince them that out of thousands of other bloggers, I could help tell their stories in a way that my audience would understand and relate to.
I’ve also pitched myself to websites like Makeup.com and As Told by Women and to podcasts like CEO-ish and The Soulcial Scoop to help create brand awareness for myself and position myself as an expert in my field.
What’s in it?
Right on Pitch includes:
Welcome message from Austen
Why pitch?
What makes a great pitch?
Before you send a pitch
Cold, warm & hot leads
Finding the right contacts
How to pitch brands for collaborations
How to pitch ideas to publications
Pitching mistakes to avoid
Following up on a pitch email
My editor-approved pitch checklist
How to structure your pitch email
Tips for negotiating your rates
A word about rejection
+ additional resources
I decided to create Right on Pitch because pitching is by far the number one thing that I get asked about, whether it’s on Instagram DM or in person at an event.
What buyers have to say:
“Right on Pitch was my best purchase of the year” - Kaitey E.
“It’s the pitching bible for me now.” - Renee H.
“Right on Pitch gave me the tools to negotiate with a brand and get them to pay me double what they originally offered” - Michelle D.
“I got my first byline on HelloGiggles.com!” - Melanie M.
